Search chatGPT in Edge

A pop-up appeared asking if I wanted to use chatGPT as the default search tool, and it seems I approved it. Since then, when I enter a search term in the browser’s address bar, it connects to chatGPT for answers. However, I’m still searching with expectations of the old search results, so I feel a bit uncomfortable. Therefore, I looked for a way to revert to the original settings.

Disabling chatGPT Settings

To change the setting so that the ChatGPT-based Bing search is not used as the default in the Microsoft Edge browser, you need to change the default search engine to another engine.

Run Edge Browser: Launch Microsoft Edge from the taskbar or start menu.

Open Settings: Click the three dots icon (…) in the upper right corner of the browser, then select ‘Settings’ from the dropdown menu.

Select Privacy, Search, and Services > Search and Connected Experiences: Click ‘Privacy, Search, and Services’ in the left menu.

Select Address Bar and Search: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click ‘Address Bar and Search’ in the ‘Services’ section.

Change Default Search Engine: In the ‘Search engine used in the address bar’ option, select your preferred search engine (e.g., Google, Naver, etc.).

Changing ChatGPT to Default Search Engine

On the other hand, how do you set ChatGPT as the default search engine?

Managing Search Engines

In the above search engine change menu, go to search engine management and add ChatGPT as shown below, then set it as the default.

By setting it this way, you can utilize the ChatGPT-based Bing search as the default in the Edge browser.
